Gandhinagar: He is the Health minister of Gujarat, but he choose to take knee replacement treatment outside the State at a private hospital in Mumbai. His this move has been criticized by main opposition Congress party.

In response to Congress barbs, Nitin Patel today in a statement said, he took treatment in Mumbai because his knee operation was done using uni-compartmental technique.

Nitin said he had not taken a single pie from government treasury for his operation and air journey to and from Mumbai.

He further said that neither he, nor any of his family members had taken money from government treasury for any medical treatment.

‘In the past I was operated for prostate in Ahmedabad based private hospital. I had not taken a single pie from government treasury for that treatment too. Congress makes baseless and lowest level of allegations without going into the actual facts and details. If Congress had inquired with me about the issue, I could share all details including the cost of treatment,’ Nitin Patel said.
