Gandhinagar coldest across Gujarat today with lowest of the season so far at 11°C, Ahmedabad at 11.8°C third in this regard, temperatures likely to go down after 2 days: Met Director

Ahmedabad: Capital Gandhinagar today remained the coldest place in Gujarat with the lowest minimum temperature of the season so far at 11 °C while the most populous city Ahmedabad at 11.8 °C remained third coldest.

Valsad in extreme southern part of the state at 11.6 °C was the place with second lowest minimum temperature today.

There was no likelihood of any big change in minimum temperatures in next two days after which the mercury is expected to go down further, Ahmedabad Met Director Jayant Sarkar today said.

There are reports of non-seasonal rain from some parts of Kutch district including villages of Lakhpat taluka but Sarkar did not confirm it. He however said that if some rain is taking place it might be because of an upper air cyclonic circulation over parts of Pakistan and neighbouring Rajasthan induced by current western disturbances.

Sarkar said that there was no likelihood of any further fall in minimum temperatures in next two days but after that the temperatures were expected to go down making the weather colder.

Notably, in the last 24 hours the minimum temperature in Ahmedabad was 14.1 °C and it has seen a fall of more than 2 notches today. Naliya at 12.1 °C yesterday was the coldest yesterday. It has seen an around 5 °C jump in it which was recorded 17 °.

Among other places with low temperatures were Vadodara 13 °C, Deesa 13.3 °C, Surat 15.2 °C, Amreli 14.2, Mahuva 14.7. The other metro in Gujarat Rajkot was warmer at 17.3 °.
