Fisherman mauled to death by lion in village near sea-shore close to Greater Gir forest in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat

Bhavnagar: A 35 year old fisherman has been mauled to death by a lion near Gujarada village close to Mahuva forest range of greater Gir forests in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat.

ACF of Mahuva range, V A Rathod said that the body of Ramabhai Danabhai Chudasama, who had gone missing since last evening was found this morning from a revenue area on the outskirts of his native village Gujarada.

‘Large part of his body has been eaten up by the beast. Our tracker had suggested him to not to venture in to that area due to presence of lion but he did not pay heed. The place from where the body has been recovered is quite close to sea -shore. The deceased had consumed liquor also and was carrying a bag full of fishes,’ Rathod said.

He said that it was perhaps the first case of lion attack on human being in this area.

A lion in Devaliya Safari park in Gir forest in Gir-Somnath district on the other end of Saurashtra region of Gujarat had attacked and killed a temporary driver of the forest department recently.
