Gogha-Dahej Ro-pax ferry service, the pet project of PM Modi, resumes in gulf of Cambay

Bhavnagar: The Ro-Pax ferry service, the largest one across the country, between Bhavnagar and Ghogha, which was put on halt since November 21 due to technical problems in the ship used for it, resumed from today.

Senior officer of the Ferry operating company Indigo Seaways Pvt Ltd (ISPL), D K Manral today said that the vessel has got clearance for ferry after repair and 3 successful sea trials.

He said that the third and final sea trial was conducted on December 12 in presence of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) Surveyor.

He said that there will be two daily round trips (in all four trips) of the Ro-pax ferry again.

SCHEDULE-

Trip 01 – Departure from Ghogha : 08:00 Hrs.

Arrival at Dahej : 1000 Hrs

Trip 02 –

Dep Dahej : 11:30 Hrs.

Arr Gogha: 13:30 Hrs

Trip 03 –

Dep Gogha:16:00 Hrs.

Arr Dahej : 18:00 Hrs

Trip 04 –

Dep Dahej : 19:30 Hrs.

Arr Gogha : 21: 30 Hrs

For the night 2130 Hrs to 0800 Hrs ,Vessel along side at Gogha Berth.

Notably, the cooling system of the ship failed on November 21 mid sea with 461 passengers on board. It was tugged back to Ghogha. The operators had alleged that muddy water due to less depth in the sea channel near terminals had caused the problem.

The original Ro Ro service with passengers only ship was inaugurated on October 22 last year by PM Narendra Modi and the Ro-Pax version capable of ferrying vehicles and cargos also was started on October 27 this year. The Ro-Ro service was also stopped from November 25 for routin.
