Ahmedabad: The feeling of biting chillness reduced marginally today across Gujarat even as the Met department said that the maximum temperatures would rise in next couple of days which would give further relief to people from ‘cold-wave’ like situation caused by drop in maximum and mean temperatures.

Director of IMD center here, Jayanta Sarkar said that the drop in maximum temperatures across Gujarat yesterday was also due to cloudy weather. It had given feeling of chillness similar to that of cold-wave though it was not a cold wave as such.

‘Now the cloud has cleared and the medium and high level cloud in the atmosphere would also clear in next couple of days. Though there won’t be any large change in the minimum temperatures yet the maximum temperatures would certainly go up which would end this chillness at least during the day time,’ he said.

He also said that the minimum temperatures across the state were so far almost normal or above normal.

Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 11.2 °C which was considerably higher than that of Deesa yesterday at only 7.6 °.

Gandhingar with 11.4 °C was the second coldest place. Ahmedabad saw a minimum of 14.9 °C which was 1.2 °C above normal.

Today the maximum temperatures also saw some improvement with Kandla port recording the minimum at 23 °C. Yesterday it was only 21.4 °C at Bhuj.
In Ahmedabad also the maximum temperature improved (26 °C ) as compared to yesterday (24.7 °C ). However it was still 3.4 °C below normal.

Notably due to the wind and low maximum temperatures most of the places had yesterday felt a sudden increase in cold and some-what cold-wave like situation even though the minimum temperatures were moderate. The mean temperature remained low giving a feeling of biting cold.
