BJP delegation meets EC on allowing party leaders to campaign in Bengal

New Delhi: The BJP, on Monday, met the Election Commission seeking its intervention to ensure that the party leaders, including Union Ministers and state Chief Ministers are allowed to campaign in Mamata Banerjee-ruled West Bengal.

A party delegation comprising Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, S S Ahluwalia and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Kailash Vijayvargiya pointed to the poll panel that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was not allowed to campaign in the eastern state on Sunday.

The BJP leaders  alleged that Yogi Adityanath’s helicopter was not allowed to land in the state.Yogi Adityanath had to address public meeting in West Bengal via telephone therefore.

Rajnath in parliament

New Delhi:Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday expressed deep concern at the situation in West Bengal arising out of Kolkata police’s unprecedented confrontation with the CBI
and said the emerging situation there could have ‘dangerous’ and serious ramifications.

“There may be constitutional breakdown in West Bengal,” Mr Singh said in the Lok Sabha amid sloganeering and clapping by Trinamool Congress members.

Making a brief intervention during Zero Hour after the issue was raised by Trinamool Congress member Saugata Roy, the Home Minister said the situation was almost leading towards ‘anarchy and chaos’ as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself has staged a protest.

“We respect state’s right under the federal structure but the situation there could almost lead to the collapse of constitutional mechanism in the state,” he said adding the confrontation between local police and the CBI was unprecedented.

“I have already spoken to Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and he has convened a meeting of the state Chief Secretary and DGP,” Mr Singh said adding, “Madam Speaker I have already sought a report from the Honourable Governor on the issue”.

He said the CBI officials were stalled from discharging their duties and the officials from the probe agency have been working on the case since 2014 after the Supreme Court had ordered an investigation into Saradha chit fund scam.

“Lakhs of people in Bengal have suffered,” he remarked.

The Home Minister said the Police Commissioner was summoned many times but he did not appear, which is why the CBI had to go to the police commissioner’s house with CRPF personnel for their security.

Ravi Shankar Prasad narrates sequence of CBI probe into ponzy scams of Bengal

Supreme Court today rejected urgent hearing for CBI plea against Kolkata a Police commissioner Rajeev Kumar in chit funds cases. Matter will be heard tomorrow at 10.30 am.

Mamata Banerjee- the most-undemocratic leader of our times!

No faith in the Indian Army-

Refused to allow the Indian Army at toll booths even though this was a part of an annual exercise to check traffic flow data.

She made acerbic remarks against the Indian Army.

She also increased the price of land allotted to the Indian Army by 15 times so that they find it tough to come. In Mamata’s Bengal- illegal Bangladeshis are welcome but not Army!

RAW does bomb blasts-

In November 2014, Mamata Banerjee said that the RAW, carried out a blast in Bardhaman on 2nd October 2014! This is the first time a sitting Chief Minister accused such a respected agency of doing such activities.

Opposes CRPF for providing security to officers-

In a heavy politicized atmosphere, officers often become easy victims since they can be targeted easily.

In 2016, she opposed CRPF protection to officers being a part of IT related probes.

If honest officers are not protected, then who will serve the nation?

Ill-treats policemen-

Sacked senior IPS officer, R K Pachnanda, police commissioner of Kolkata in 2013, just because he arrested a TMC cadre for killing a cop! Then Governor of West Bengal, MK Narayanan had also rebuked the Chief Minister.

Refuses to cooperate with CAG-

An RTI reply revealed that the CAG has not been able to audit key welfare schemes of the Mamata Government because the West Bengal government refuses to even share data with them. Important schemes relating to public welfare remain without audit.

No respect for Election Commission-

It is a regular practice for the Election Commission to take over bureaucratic machinery in states during elections- both Parliamentary and Vidhan Saba.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, when BJP was not in power, she did not abide by EC and refused to transfer SP and DMs in various districts of West Bengal.

Treats political opponents with high-handedness-

BJP Rath Yatra denied permission.

Time and again, the National President of the BJP is not allowed to address programmes in the state.

The CM of India’s most populated state, Yogi Adityanath Ji, is denied permission to address a rally.

Fascism of Mamata-

In 2012, just when Mamata Banerjee had come to power against the Communists, she arrested a professor of Jadavpur University and his neighbour just for making cartoons that she did not like.

In the same year, a girl student grilled her on the law and order situation in West Bengal so in front of other students and journalists, she called the girl student a Maoist! She also walked out of the show.

Calls for Civil War and bloodbath-

After the NRC, a process that was strictly monitored by the Supreme Court, most notably the current CJI, Shri Ranjan Gogoi, Mamata Banerjee warmed of a blood bath and civil war.

Institutional Murder in Kolkata- conduct of Mamata Banerjee and TMC

The probe of Chit Fund Scams-

The probes for the chit fund scam for which Mamata Banerjee is scared and taking to street politics has been ordered by the Honourable Supreme Court of India on 10th May 2014 (even before the NDA came to power).

The Bench, which was headed by future CJI Shri TS Thakurnoted that since the chit fund scams spread across one than one state, one state police cannot conduct the probe.

The Court asked CBI and ED to get active in the probe and ensure the culprits are brought to the book.

Kunal Ghosh, a sitting TMC MP was arrested for chit fund rackets in November 2013.

In the last few years CBI had  alsoarrested Madan Mitra, the Transport Minister, SudipBandhopadhya and Tapas Palwho are TMC MPs.

Mamata Banerjee did not take any step, but when a Police Officer was to be questioned she goes theatrics! Why? What does he have with him that TMC is under blackmail?

What the law says-

As per Section 156 (1) of the CrPc, an IO (Investigating Officer) may without the order of the Magistrate investigate any cognizable case which a Court havingjurisdiction over the local area within the limits of such station.

Ironically, Kolkata police has been repeatedly raiding houses of private individuals using this very section!

Exact section:

156.Police officer’s power to investigate cognizable case.

(1) Any officer in charge of a police station may, without the order of a

Magistrate, investigate any cognizable case which a Court having

jurisdiction over the local area within the limits of such station

would have power to inquire into or try under the provisions of

Chapter XIII.

Conduct of the Kolkata Police Commissioner-

For the Sharda and Rose Valley Chit scam, the West Bengal Government had formed a SIT under Rajeev Kumar, IPS then CP Bidhan Nagar Police.

Sadly, evidences submitted document and electronic media form many of them were found missing later by CBI as alleged by Jt. Director CBI.

Same officer Rajeev Kumar was then promoted and shifted as CP Kolkata.

On 4 occasions CBI sent notice to appear, he never appeared. All this was under direct instructions of CM Mamata Banerjee.

Issue of institutional respect-

Yesterday CBI officers were detained and physically pushed into Kolkata Police vehicles and taken to the local PS.

Immediately thereafter West Bengal police surrounded the CGO Complex, Kolkata, which houses the CBI & ED offices and stopped movement of people.  Kolkata Police surrounded the residential quarters of CBI officers in Nizam Palace.

All this was a blatant act of aggression and intimidation against GOI officers.

To make matters worse, the Kolkata Police Commissioner, who could not join the probe despite repeated requests, finds his way at a politicaDharna!

Honesty vs fear of being caught-

Today would be a good time to remind the people of the witch-hunt against Shri Narendra Modi when he was Gujarat CM.

For years, investigative agencies went after him.

He did not ban any of them from coming to Gujarat.

Infact, he faced the questioning of the SC Monitored SIT for 9 hours!

When one is honest, no force can stop him or her from surging ahead. When one is dishonest, one takes to theatrics.
