Gujarat govt to pay Rs. 2.60 crore assistant to nearest kin of year 2002 Godhra train burning case victims

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat will pay Rs. 5 lakh relief assistant to nearest kin of each of 52 victims who died in year 2002 Sabarmati Express burning case in Godhra.
In-total Rs. 260 crore sum will be paid in this connection from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The amount has been transferred to State Legal Service Authority already according to a statement issued by the State government.
According to minister of state (Home) Pradipsinh Jadeja, the Gujarat High Court had in its order on 9th October 2017 in criminal appeal 556/2011 had issued direction for payment of Rs. 5 lakh relief assistant to nearest kin of each victim dead in 27 February 2002 Godhra train attack. Out of total 59 victims, 52 could be identified while 7 remained unidentified.
