– Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi to make announcement during Gujarat visit that who will be the Prime Minister if opposition alliance is elected to power. Rupani in reply to media’s question regarding Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Dharampur in Gujarat today said BJP has declared its prime ministerial candidate already and asked people to reelect Narendra Modi led government, but opposition alliance has not declared its PM candidate. It should be noted here that Rahul Gandhi is launching the Gujarat Congress campaign for upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Dharampur in South Gujarat by addressing a Jan Akrosh rally. Dharampur is part of Valsad Lok Sabha constituency.

-Railway minister Piyush Goyal will flag off three new trains from Udhna railway station of Surat on February 16.

-Congress party’s central working committee meet is likely to take place in Gujarat on February 25-26. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had recently decided to hold party’s working committee meetings in various states.

-Sanitary pad vending machines along with safe disposal incinerators are being installed free of cost in all girls’ high schools of Vadodara city by Vadodara Municipal Corporation(VMC).

-Thara municipality of Banaskantha district is now ruled by BJP as two rebel Councillors Karimkhan Ghori and Ambaben Makwana of Congress party decided to vote for BJP in the board meeting to elect president and vice president. Congress and BJP each had 12-12 seats in their fold in Thara municipality post election. Later one BJP Councillor passed away which brought the number of BJP Councillors down at 11. With two Councillors joining BJP, Thara municipality board elected BJP’s Bharti Akhani as president and Vasantji Thakor as vice president.

-10,000 students of 15 schools across Surat gathered in an auditorium in a function and took pledge that they shall not do love marriage against the wishes of their parents.

– In district headquarters Amreli in Saurashtra, around 300 students of a private school worshiped their parents as their true love to mark the Valentine day.

-The citizens of Rajkot will get another new bridge this month. A flyover on Raiya chokdi will be opened for public on February 24. The flyover was being constructed for last three years on 150-ft ring road which also has Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) track. Another flyover on this route located on Mavdi chokdi is under construction. It is likely to complete in next three months.

– Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) sealed Magnus mall on Althan road for not having fire safety system installed and thus breach of GRDC rules.

– Vadodara based couple Rohini and Vinod Patel were declared dead in United Arab Emirates in tragic incident of car accident. They were on visit to UAE with family members from India and America during 8-13 February for holiday tour. On 12 February they were returning from visit to Desert Safari when a car carrying them lost control and turned upside down.

– No trust motion was moved against Congress rule body in Mahesana taluka panchayat and Unjha taluka panchayat this week. It is learnt that next target of BJP shall be Mahesana district panchayat where five members of Congress are in contact with BJP for switch over.
