Gandhinagar:

– Surat airport witnessed maiden operation of international flight today. Air India Express flight to Sharjah left Surat airport with 186 passengers. Sharjah Airport in its tweet posted a photograph welcoming the Air India Express flight from Surat.

– 3 persons were injured in group clash which errupted during wedding procession in city’s sensitive Delhi darwaja area. Police lobbed tear gas shells to control the situation. More than two dozen people were detained in connection with this incident which took place late in the evening today.

– Gujarat government today transferred 32 DySPs. 3 trainee IPS officers were also transferred. 5 police inspectors were promoted to DySP rank. 5 Gujarat cadre IPS of 2005 batch including Himanshu Shukla were promoted to DIG rank. Shukla will continue to be with ATS while four of his batch-mates were transferred.

– Gujarat cadre 1987 batch retired IAS officer Raj Gopal has been appointed president of Gujarat Civil Service Tribunal in Gandhinagar replacing AN Joshi who was handling additional charge of this post.

– Two accused who killed former BJP state vice president and MLA Jayanti Bhanushali are held by State police ATS team from district Dang in South Gujarat according to reports. Formal announcement in this regard is awaited.

– The 28th all-India state election commissioners’ conference began at a tent city near the Statue of Unity at Kevadia Colony today. Commissioners from 22 states are participating in the two-day program.

-Rajkot police has arrested a notorious history-sheeter Vasim Dalvani for allegedly firing in Nehrunagar of Raiya road in city on the night of January 31. Vasim had opened fire on the house of Sultan Kariyanai following a business rivalry.
