26/11 Mumbai attacks plotter Hafiz Saeed had lauded Congress: BJP reminds and release video

New Delhi: The BJP on Tuesday sought to counter Congress campaign against Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad that the latter had also in the past referred Pakistan-based JuD chief Hafiz Saeed as ‘Hafeezji’ saying Mr Prasad was only referring to a video in which the mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai attacks had lauded Congress.

“Congress mein kuchh acchhey baaten karne waley bhi haen (There are some Congress leaders who speak sense),” Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of 16/11 Mumbai attack, is heard saying in a new video released by the BJP.

“This is the video Ravi Shankar Prasad had referred. Questions ought to be asked what is really the relation between terrorists and Congress,” the party’s official Twitter handle said along with a video in which Saeed is shown as speaking in appreciation of the Congress party.

“See Congress leaders have told BJP, see you stop blaming Pakistan for everything. You look inwards and see what you (BJP) has done in Kashmir,” Saeed is heard as saying.

The Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi on Tuesday put a video on her Twitter missive showing Mr Prasad referring to JuD chief as ‘Hafizji’.

“Hope this finds pride of place in BJP‘s revamped website, as and when it returns.

BJP‘s admiration of Hafiz Saeed & his ilk,” she tweeted.

On Monday, big political furor was unleashed after Congress president Rahul Gandhi had referred JeM chief as ‘Masood Azhar ji’.

The Congress leaders have called Mr Gandhi’s remarks only as ‘sarcastic’ as their party president was only trying to mock at BJP for releasing Masood Azhar in 1999.
