8 Asiatic lions from Sakkarbaug zoo in Junagadh of Gujarat to be sent to UP zoo

Junagadh:Altogether 8 Asiatic lions of Sakkarbaug zoo, one of the oldest in the country situated in Junagadh city of Gujarat will be shifted to Gorakhpur zoo in UP, CCF, Junagadh D T Vasavada today informed.
‘Govt. Of India has permitted shifting of 8 lions from Sakkarbag zoo Junagadh to Gorakhpur zoo in UP. There will be 2 male and 6 female among these, ‘ he said.
‘Both zoo official will decide when to shift them and the mode of transport’, he said.
The Sakkarbaug zoo houses a large number of lions, many of whom are caged from nearby Gir forests, the sole natural abode of Asiatic lions, due to violent behavior and attack on human beings.
