RIL Jamnagar employee conquers Mount Everest

Jamnagar: Bharat Sharma, a Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) employee from Jamnagar Manufacturing Division, has made India proud as he hoisted the Indian tri-colours on the peak of Mount Everest on 22nd May 2019.

Aged 37, Mr Sharma is the first RIL employee to achieve this feat.

Mr Sharma is the 422nd Indian and feature among the 4,500 people in the world who have conquered the summit of the Mount Everest.

Mr Sharma fluttered the Indian flag on the summit at the height of 8,848 meters or 29,029 feet at 9:00 a.m on 22nd May 2019.

Whilst sharing his experience, Mr Sharma said “It’s a dream come true for me to flutter the Indian tri-colours on the world’s highest point, the peak of the Mount Everest. Despite, challenging environment and climatic conditions during the expedition, I continued my journey with focus to surmount the peak to realise my dream. I would like to thank my employer Reliance Industries for providing me wholehearted financial and moral support and Reliance family for supporting me throughout in achieving this accomplishment.”

Before conquering the Monut Everest, Mr Sharma had scaled the peak of Mount Manaslu, the 8th highest and among the 14 mountains above 8,000 Meter altitude in the world, in September 2018. The Mount Manaslu peak is situated at an altitude of 8,163 Meter or 26,781 feet.

In 2016, Mr Sharma hoisted the Indian tri-colours on the Africa’s highest peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, situated at an altitude of 5,895 meter.

Besides achieving unmatched triumphs over key global peaks, Mr Sharma is an avid marathoner and he had completed – 76 k.m. Sardar Patel Ring Road, Ahmedabad (2016), 161 k.m. Run the Rann, Dholavira in Kutchh (2018), 211 k.m. The High 5’, Manali to Leh (2018), 200 k.m. Sher-E-Panjab, Amritsar to Chandigarh (2018) and 160 k.m. The Border, Jaisalmer to Longewala – races in respectable time.
