Good news for Gujarat, monsoon likely to make entry on June 23 or 24

Ahmedabad:There is good news for Gujarat as the ‘delayed’ monsoon is likely to make entry in this western state soon.

According to IMD center Director Jayant Sarkar the monsoon is likely to make an entry in Southern Gujarat on 23rd or 24 th June. The normal time of arrival of monsoon in the state is third week of June.

‘The South West Monsoon has made northward movement towards Konkan and Goa and is likely to enter Gujarat on June 23/24. There was likelihood of heavy rain in South Gujarat region on June 24,’ he said today.

Notably the arrival of monsoon close on heels after the Cyclonic Storm VAYU, which has caused more than five percent of the average seasonal rain in a matter of few days in this western state could be very beneficial for agriculture.

In the last few day (since June 12), from the days when VAYU was inching closer to Gujarat coast as a severe cyclonic storm in the Arabian see but changed course on June 13 and later returned in a weakened form of a low pressure area on June 17, the state has seen good amount of rain and the northern Gujarat and Saurashtra regions were the biggest beneficiaries.

Till today the state has seen 5.30% of its total seasonal rain.
