South West Monsoon finally arrives in Gujarat, widespread rains expected in two days

Ahmedabad: The South West Monsoon today finally made a formal entry in to Gujarat after some delay.

The normal time for arrival of monsoon in Gujarat is the third week of June. Last year it had arrived on June 23 while in 2017 it had hit the state on June 12.

IMD Center Director Jayant Sarkar today said that monsoon has finally arrived in Gujarat today.There will be fairly wide spread rain in the next two days and it would be isolated and moderate after that.

Meanwhile the 101 talukas of the state have seen light to heavy rain fall today till 12 pm. Maximum 67mm was in Sundargadh of Tapi district, 64 in Dediyapada of Narmada district. Bhavnagar has seen 51 mm and Kapadvanj in Kheda 48 mm.

Despite late entry of monsoon, the state has received over 7% of of seasonal average with North Gujarat and Saurashtra seeing over 10% each till this noon.
