Star cast of the film Yeh Khula Aasman was on visit to Ahmedabad on promotion tour. The film is produced by Gitanjali creations. The story of the film revolves arond Avinash, a young intelligent boy going through an extremely challenging phase of life due to his academic failures. He feels an immense vacuum which unfortunately his busy parents are unable to fill. In desperation he visits his grandfather (Dadu, a role played by Raghubir Yadav) after several years.

Being the best kite runner of his era, Dadu subtly imparts lessons of life using the ‘kite’ as a metaphor for ‘life’. Under Dady’s company Avinash discovers many unexplored yet invaluable facets of life finding true friendship, love and inspiration to lead a life full of hope, joy and success.

The role of Avinash is played by Raj Tandon while the centre of attraction of the film, a beautiful girl Anya Anand plays role of Muskaan.

The film is directed by Gitanjali Sinha. Anand Milind are music director of the film.

Mahee production‘s Gujarati film Veer Hamirji Gohil, Somnath ni sakhate will release on 25 May in major theatres of Ahmedabad, Rajkot and other parts of Saurashtra and Gujarat. The film is based on Zaverchand Meghani, Kalapi and Jaymalla Parmar’s writings on Gujarati bravery icon of medieval era, Veer Hamirsinhji Gohil.

Hamirsinhji Gohil was a young brave man who attempted to prevent Shri Somnath Mandir with his small team of brave youths, when Islamic Jehadis came to destroy it.

Shri Hamirsinhji Gohil’s grand statue is located on the front side of Shri Somnath Mandir, while his temple is located inside the campus of Shri Somnath mandir.

Produced by America based NRI Gujarati Bhagirath Joshi and co produced by Chintan Pathak and Maulik Pathak, the film story is written by Dipak Vyas. The film is going to release on 25 May in Gujarati. However same film will be released later in Hindi and English too in an attempt to bring this Gujarati bravery icon to wider audience.

It is for the first time that late Zaverchand Meghani’s family has permitted any film producer to use famous song ‘Kasumbi no rang’ in his film. In the film Veer Hamirji, the song is presented in voice of Kirtidan Gadhvi.

Film’s premier will be held on 24 May in Rajkot.

In recently held Gujarati film award function at Ahmedabad’s Jayshankar Sundari hall, Gujarati film super-star Naresh Kanodia and his brother Mahesh Kanodia rocked the stage with Gujarati film songs.

Veteran Gujarati film-star and former BJP MLA Naresh Kanodia has been awarded recently by Dada Saheb Falke academy in Mumbai, while Mahesh Kanodia, the brother of Naresh Kanodia is former member of parliament of BJP. He can sing in both male and female voices.

During their song and dance sequence, Naresh and Mahesh called all Gujarati film heroines present in the hall on stage. As many as six heroines ranging from Roma Manek to Mamta Soni responded and went to the stage to join the dance. A video of these moments is presented above.

Bollywood beauty Pariniti Chopra and newcomer actor Arjun Kapoor were in Ahmedabad to promote their soon-to-be-released movie Ishaqzaade.

The press meet in this connection was organized at Reliance digital world on CG road.

Speaking on her experience to work with Yashraj films, Parinita said it’s a dream of every actor to with for Yash Chopra banner, but once given a chance, it’s a huge responsibility.

Both the actors clarified that this is not just another Yashraj film.

“Roses are replaced with guns in this film, and the location is Lucknow (not Switzerland). This time Yashraj has tried something new. It’s different type of love story where not only quarrels but actual gun fights take place. It’s a love story in small city where two lovers are ‘janwars’,” said Arjun Kapoor, the lead actor of the film.

Arjun revealed that he wanted to join the film industry as film director, but 140 kg heavy he was chosen as hero. He later reduced his weight throug work-out and food control schedule supervised by Salman Khan.

On Parinita’s song, Arjun Kapoor danced for few moments before media. Both the actors were presented Gujarati food ‘Khakhra’ to eat during the press conference.

Mukund Gupta, who won the award for best Production Designer for Do Dooni Chaar, is doing the production design.

Celebrity author Chetan Bhagat is very excited about a new Hindi film (in production at this time) based on his novel ’3 mistakes of my life’. Few weeks back he had announced that the name of a new Hindi film based on his novel will be in Gujarati, but didn’t reveal the name as UTV prevented him to do so. But today Chetan Bhagat announced the name of his new film ‘Kai po che’ through tweet on Twitter. Bhagat in subsequent tweets announced a competition on Twitter asking the meaning of Kai Po Che.

The film is on floor in Gujarat’s Vadnagar.Few scenes are also to be filmed in Ahmedabad.

Film Director Abhishek Kapoor has shared a photo of Vadnagar’s Shiv mandir(below) where shooting is taking place presently.

Speaking to a bollywood website, Chetan Bhagat had recently said, “I am happy and excited that the film is finally on floors. Abhishek Kapoor is braving the hot summer heat in Gujarat with the entire cast and crew. They are shooting in Vadnagar in Mehsana district of Gujarat and will also be filming scenes in Ahmedabad. I myself am dying to get on set soon.”

Chetan further added, “When the film was announced, people were telling us that this film won’t be allowed to screen in Gujarat. But I am happy to state that the Government of Gujarat has been very co-operative to us and in fact almost the entire film is being shot there in actual locations. We also met up with the CM of Gujarat- Mr. Narendra Modi who has been very co-operative in allowing us to shoot the film in Gujarat and he has also ensured that the film will release in Gujarat as well.”

Action sequences of Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh starer film Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu will be captured in Ahmedabad from 11th of April.

Telugu film director Srikanth Addala’s film is currently being filmed in Hyderabad.

will be moving to Ahmedabad for shooting of action sequences. The shooting will start from the 11th of April.

The whole unit of the movie including stars Mahesh Babu and Samantha in the lead along with the second pair of Venkatesh and Anjali will be in Ahmedabad for shoot.

The music for this movie is being composed by Mickey J Meyers. Producer Dil Raju will be producing this movie under the Sri Venkateshwara banner.

The movie is expected to call it a wrap by the end of July and get decked up for a grand release in the month of August.

Wankaner, 2 March 2012

Not many days ago, the palace of Wankaner witnessed the wedding of Prince Keshridevsinhji.

Now the palace of Wankaner is all set to host the wedding function of film-star Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma. Both the starts will wed here in the campus of the palace while shooting for a Pankaj Kapoor, Vishal Bhardwaj film ‘Matruki Bijlika Mandola’.

The shooting schedule is more than two week long. All the stars will stay in Rajkot’s Imperial palace hotel and at Wankaner palace. While Imrankhan is playing the role of Matru, Anushka is playing Bijli.

About 100 people from Rajkot are participating in this shooting. They were selected in an audition, couple of weeks back which was participated by nearly 400 people.

Sudden death of Surat based Gujarati heroine Dimpal Hingu has shocked the Gujarati film industry.

Surat based Dimpal Rajendrabhai Hingu committed suicide yesterday evening soon after she returned to home after completing a film shoot.

She was taken to a hospital from her home, but she couldn’t survive due to overdose of poison.

Dimpal became a known face in Surat after she completed a film ‘Ratnakalakar’ on the life of diamond artisan.

She is heroine of soon to be released film Mota gharnu maru sasariyu.

She was also seen in Rangilo Ratnakalakar, Jadugar Dilwalo, Bhalavala Mari Bhelo Rehje and Uncha Kotdae Bethi Chandi Chamunda. Varachha police is investigating this case.

Interacting with the media persons in Amdavad during her visit to promote her forthcoming film Jodi Breakers, Hindi cinema actress Bipasha Basu said in her present post break-up period is a learning experience for her.

When a lady journalist asked Bipasha Basu on her break up with actor John Abraham, Bipasha acted like she could not understand the question at all.

A public relation person who was looking after the press meet intervened and asked media persons not to raise personal questions.

When another reporter asked Bipasha, whether in real life she believes in formula of staying single, Bipasha replied, “When I read the film, I thought the character of Sonali is exactly like me. And now when I have done the film, I am sure you will find the real Bipasha on big screen. I have done varieties of roles, but this time I have played a real character of a contemporary girl who is similar to me.”

She further said, “I think in life there are times you are couple, there are times you are in love, but there are times you are single, and we should not be sad about it. This is also a learning experience in life, and each person should spend sometime with self, and that’s what I am going through at this time and I am happy.”

Newlywed couple Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia Disouza were in Amdavad today to promote their soon to be released film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.

It’s obvious that media interaction of both was dominated by references on their wedding.

Ritesh said that his wedding with Genelia and the release of their film both happening in same month is just coincidence.

Genelia and Ritesh seemed not too comfortable while answering a question on poor record of heroine’s success in films after wedding.

A journalist asked Ritesh and Genelia about their valentine day plan. Ritesh replied that his plan would be as per the dictation of his film producer.

When a stupid question was asked on his personal valentine day plan, Genelia replied that it’s personal!!

When asked what’s special about this love story, Ritesh replied ‘Genelia’ and Genelia ofcourse replied ‘Ritesh’.

One more stereotype question was this: How do you feel after marriage?

Mumbai based tabloid report says, bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film shoot will take place in Gujarat.

The report says that Bhansali’s next film will be a musical romantic saga which will be an adaption of Shakspear’s Romeo and Juliet. If further says that Bhansali intends to start the pre production in April, and Ranveer Singh and Kareena Kapoor could be the main pair.

The report says, Bhansali’s friend-turned-foe Ismail Darbar is in the process of making his own adaptation of the Shakespeare classic.

Bhansali had earlier selected Gujarat for shooting of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
