Udaipur, 24 May 2012

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today expressed grave concern at the country’s present rulers’ ignoring the nation’s glorious history and heritage full of valour of great men at its own peril.

Speaking as the chief guest at Maharana Pratap’s 472nd birth anniversary function at Udaipur, he said that those who ignore their history cannot make history.

He said that Maharana Pratap lives in our heart even after so many years because he had showed us the way to protect the motherland. Even though he belonged to the princely family he didn’t ever take any rest and rather devoted every moment of his life in the service of the motherland. He offered floral tributes at Maharan’s statue at Moti Magri.

However, Mr. Modi regretted there might be still some so-called secular elements which would not cringe to malign Rana Pratap had he been alive today because he was the saviour of cow progeny, womanhood, temples and culture. As if there is only one family in the country today which has seen sacrifice and idolized.

He described it as India’s misfortune that people tend to forget its glorious past and revolutionaries like Shaymaji Krishna Verma, Veer Bhagat Singh and Rajguru and Veer Savarkar.

Talking about long historical and cultural relation between Gujarat and Rajasthan, he recalled that the mother of Mewad’s founder was the queen of Valabhi-Gujarat. Maharana Pratap’s obedient horse ‘Chetak’ belonged to Kathiawar breed of Gujarat. They were the Bhils of Guajart living in the Vijaynagar forests of Sabarkantha in the ravines of Aravalli who had lent support to the Maharana during his exile. Gujarat is trying to repay by providing the Narmada waters to the remote areas of Rajasthan.

While the Gujarat Government has enacted effective laws to save the cow progeny, Mr. Modi said, the Central Government’s offered subsidy on beef under its ‘pink revolution’.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today hit hard on his twitter at the Congress-ruled Centre’s utter failure to control inflation, as demonstrated by its inflicting an unprecedented hike in the price of an essential commodity like petrol.

Mr. Modi described the failure as all the more unpardonable as the hike was announced within 24 hours of the adjournment of the Parliamentary session. It is a great insult to Parliamentary system of democracy. People would not forgive the Congress-ruled government at the Centre, he said.

New Delhi, 21 May, 2012

A CNN-IBN Opinion Poll conducted across eight urban centres – Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bangalore and Hyderabad – showed that even as the Manmohan Singh-led UPA is losing its credibility in urban areas, Narendra Modi stands head and shoulders above his rivals with voters when it comes to leadership of the BJP and the NDA.

The survey, conducted from 8-10 May with a sample size of 2,033, shows that Modi is the overwhelming urban choice as NDA-BJP leader with 39 percent seeing him as prime ministerial material. LK Advani comes next with 17 percent. The rest have preferences in single-digits.

Interestingly, barring Kolkata, Modi is No 1 choice is all cities, with Ahmedabad (not surprisingly) leading the pack with 76 percent preferring him, followed by Lucknow (which is surprising) giving him 60 percent. This suggests that Modi may be key to reviving the BJP’s fortunes in Uttar Pradesh, too.

The interesting point is that Nitish Kumar, who is widely seen as a possible prime minister in case the regional allies of the NDA fare better than the BJP itself, gets just 5 percent. He is more a media creation than anything else.

A majority of the respondents in the CNN-IBN survey (49 per cent) did not favor another term for the UPA II. When asked who would be the most ideal candidate from the opposition alliance, NDA, to be India’s next PM, 39 per cent of the respondents preferred Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

An overwhelming 66 per cent of India’s urban population thinks the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government has lost its credibility to govern. Also, more than half of the respondents (59 per cent) expressed dissatisfaction with the current government.

The ABP News-Nielsen survey also suggested that if General elections are held now, the BJP would garner 28 per cent of the votes while the Congress would manage only 20 per cent.

“After eight years in power, the UPA pull seems to be diminishing. Narendra Modi, for the first time, emerges as the most popular national leader, ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi,” the news channel said in its release.

The channel said the survey, conducted in 28 cities across the country, also revealed that the BJP has turned out to be the most favoured party.

“In an interesting revelation, only 69 per cent of those who voted for Congress during the 2009 polls are still intending to vote for it if elections are held now,” it said.

In 2009 General elections, the Congress had won 207 seats whereas the BJP secured 116.

Ahmedabad, 17 May 2012

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 100-bed modern BAPS Yogiji Maharaj Hospital at Shahibaug here this evening.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi remembered the contribution of seers and saints of India for their selfless services to the society. He remembered the role of Pramukhswami Maharaj Yogiji in de-addiction of 40-lakh people. He wished the Hospital would work for the society with the same spirit.

The Chief Minister said that the Swamiji has imbibed the essence of Ayurveda and passed on the knowledge to his disciples. If such service institutions join government efforts the state could do wonders, he said.

He said that it was because of the advancement in medical science that the average life expectancy of mankind has increased. He desired to spread the area of influence of the medical science. He said that nursing and medical colleges have been set up in every district.

Dr. V. P. Patel said the hospital was built with the inspiration of Pramukhswami Maharaj of the Bochasanvasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS). It has 100 doctors(15 in-house and 85 visiting doctors) and 250 para-medical staff. 1,25,000 sq ft complex also offers panchakarma and ayurved treatment services.
