Here is Giri Brahmachari, a Sadhu who is on countrywide pilgrim tour with his mother.

After visiting Kedarnath, Jagannath puri, Tirputari, Shrinathji, Varanasi, Banaras, Pushkar, Dwarka and Somnath he was in Junagadh today with his mother.

This modern-day Shravankumar started his pilgrim tour with his mother and father both, but his father died on the way, therefore he then started putting a big stone and other necessary things inside one basket to balance with the other basket in which his mother sits.

Kailash Giri is on pilgrim toure of India for last 16 years, five months and 17 days. He believes that everyone should serve their parents.

Kailash Giri took his mother Kirtidevi(Jabalpu, Madhya Pradesh) to 3100 ft height of mount Girnar for darshan of Ambaji mandir.

After doing indefinite fast in Palitana seeking ban on non-veg food in nine km area, Jain monk Maitriprabhasagar will now sit on indefinite fast in Surat from 26 May demanding ban on sell and consumption of non-veg food in all religious places of Gujarat.

The Jain monk said, “if the state government doesn’t accept my four demands, I would start fast-unto-death from 25 May against the government.”

On his four demands he said, “my first demand is that, no new slaughter house should be permitted in Gujarat and expansion and modernization of existing slaughter houses must not be permitted.”

“My third and fourth demands are that, over 400 illegal slaughter houses operating in the state are forced to shut down within a month, and ban on non-veg food’s selling and consumption at all religious places,” he further said.

Jain monk has selected a place opposite Surat’s Nanpura bahumali building to start his fast.

Same Jain monk had in recent past organized fast-unto-death in Palitana town, demanding ban on non-veg food in 9 km area. When state govt didn’t respond, he threatened self immolation, after which the district collector intervened and gave him promise to consider his demands.

Following this, the Palitana Municipality decided to ban non-veg and eggs.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 100-bed modern BAPS Yogiji Maharaj Hospital at Shahibaug here this evening.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi remembered the contribution of seers and saints of India for their selfless services to the society. He remembered the role of Pramukhswami Maharaj Yogiji in de-addiction of 40-lakh people. He wished the Hospital would work for the society with the same spirit.

The Chief Minister said that the Swamiji has imbibed the essence of Ayurveda and passed on the knowledge to his disciples. If such service institutions join government efforts the state could do wonders, he said.

He said that it was because of the advancement in medical science that the average life expectancy of mankind has increased. He desired to spread the area of influence of the medical science. He said that nursing and medical colleges have been set up in every district.

Dr. V. P. Patel said the hospital was built with the inspiration of Pramukhswami Maharaj of the Bochasanvasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS). It has 100 doctors(15 in-house and 85 visiting doctors) and 250 para-medical staff. 1,25,000 sq ft complex also offers panchakarma and ayurved treatment services.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Health Minister Jay Narayan Vyas, Purushottam D. Patel, Phoolchand and donors, MLA Bharat Barot.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated Devka Vidyapith founded by noted commentator Rameshbhai Oza ‘Bhaishri’ on a 40-bigha plot at his birthplace at Devka near Rajula on the Saurashtra coast.

The new campus based on rich values on the lines of ancient gurukul system of education has been developed by Ramesh Bhaishri to payback his indebtness to the society in collaboration with donors from nearby areas.

Speaking on the occasion after seeking the blessings, Mr. Modi said that education is the base of all round development of a nation. He said that Mahatma Gandhi too realized the importance of Indian system of education, to instill patriotism free from indoctrination by British system to set up Gujarat Vidyapith. Great freedom fighters like late Shyamaji Krishna Verma had also expressed such views.

The Chief Minister said that Gujarat has now charted a new path for human resources development. He said that he derived immense pleasure by the sight of daughters born in poor families going to school, possible through campaigns like Girls Education and School Enrolment.

Ramesh Bhaishri thanked the donors for their contribution to the project. He wished children in the vidyapith learn culture, attain success in life and serve the nation. He lauded the leadership qualities of Mr. Narendra Modi as the Chief Minister.

Maninagar Swaminarayan Gaadi’s Chief Priest Shri Purushottam Priyadasji (PP Swami) and Shri Swaminarayana’s murty both together were weighed against 108 kg pure silver and 108 kg pure gold in Bhuj in a Suvarna tula event. While PP Swamy’s weight is 70 kg, the murty’s weight is 38 kg. The event was held on the occasion of 50th anniversary of diksha of Acharyashri and 70th birth year of him. 12 ft high scale was decorated with flowers. The tula ceremony started wish saakar, and progressed with sopari, srifal, honey, silver and gold. As many as 35 security jawans were deployed to protect 200 kg gold.

To mark the anniversary of Shahibag mandir of BAPS Swaminarayan, a Vishwashanti mahayagna was organized today. As many as 4500 persons participated in this yagna on 46 Yagnakundas and offered 31 lakh ahutis. More than 125 saints including Mahant Swami Keshavjivandas, Doctor Swami, Ishwarcharan Swami etc were present on this occasion. According to Shri Aksharvatsal Swami, such Maha yagna was lastly organized by Shri Sahajananda swami in year 1822.

BJP ruled Palitana Municipality of Bhavnagar district on Friday passed a motion proposing ban on selling of non-veg and eggs in the limit of the pilgrim town of Palitana.

The motion was passed in the general meeting headed by President of Municipality Shri Pravinbhai Gadhvi with members of BJP favoring it.

Opposition Congress party members opposed the motion.

If someone wants to oppose the decision, he/she is free to do so in prescribed time limit of 30 days. After this period, the decision will be implemented strictly.

Palitana is important pilgrim place of Jain community.

Jain monk Maitriprabhasagar was on fast last month demanding Haridwar style law to prevent non-veg and eggs in this pilgrim town. When he threatened self immolation, he was visited by district administration and was assured that his demand would be satisfied.

Junagadh’s Juna Akhada will shift into a multi storeyed building. Construction of a 7-floor Juna akhada building will kick off next week in Bhavnaath area of mount Girnar.

The construction work will be carried out under the leadership of Mahamandaleshwar Shri Bharati Bapu.

According to Shri Bharati Bapu, the building will have 18 rooms on each floor. The total number of rooms will be 108. On the ground floor there wll be a large hall of 100 by 125 ft.
