Following are Modi’s statements during his speech at Palitana today. Modi attacked the centre and the Congress party consequently on second day in reference to alleged CBI misuse against his govt. Modi was in Palitana to open Swarnim Pavak Van project under which thousands of trees are to be planted and nourished.

“If they believe, Narendra Modi would be frightened through such tactics, then they should open their ears and listen that Modi would bend before truth for one hundred times, but against untruth, he would fight a war, definitely and surely”

“This is battleground Gujarat that would definitely defeat the anti-national forces.”

“I want to tell Delhi Sultanate that this Gujarat is heritage of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, and it was this state that had provided leadership to liberate Bharat Mata from British slavery. Now again the war like atmosphere has been created for the fight between truth and untruth. And I am very much sure that Gujarat will be victorious.”

“This country never supports those Mavali, anti-national, ‘Danav adhikar’, pro-terrorists elements. Gujarat has realized security and peace in last eight years. Those who are not happy with Gujarat’s development are planning to spark fire in this state. They are attempting to dilute Gujarat’s peace and development, and trying to destruct the state. But the anger of the people of Gujarat will not tolerate that.”

“My one and only dream is to serve the people of Gujarat and to develop this state, for which I am tirelessly active, but if somebody believes that they could frighten Narendra Modi, then I want to tell them that Modi is ready to bow down before truth for 100 times, but against untruth, he would fight to win and only win.”

“The centre is not capable for healthy competition with Gujarat in the area of development. While Gujarat is determined to go ahead on the path of progress and peace, these elements feel insecure, and they think this could be a danger against their survival. To pull Gujarat back from the path of development, they have started creating obstructions. One of the examples of such tricks is that, they have recently notified a policy under which the state government can’t issue tenders for city gas distribution. This policy has blocked possibility of providing pipeline gas supply to the people of Amreli and Bhavnagar districts. But the government of Gujarat will participate in central government’s tender process to provide gas to the people through pipe line. We will protect Gujarat against political tricks that are being played with the people.”

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be present at Ahmedabad’s GMDC ground near Gujarat University Convention centre to plant first tree of Swarnim Van here. The Chief Minister is also going to address the audience at around 10:00 am.

The city of Ahemdabad is attempting to register Guinness book record of plantation of highest trees in a day in one city. The Chief Minister’s presence would encourage all those participating in this green event.

Modi government celebrates ‘Van Mahotsav’ (forest festival) every year in monsoon. While the main function of this year’s Van Mahotsav was held in Palitana yesterday, today’s Ahmedabad event is also in focus, as thousands of people are involved in it.

Today on 31st of July 2010, the city of Ahmedabad is going to attempt to break a Guinness book record for plantation of maximum trees in a day. The target is plantation of whopping seven lakh trees at as many as 400 places across the city and outskirts. Existing record holder the city of Islamabad the capital of Pakistan is thus challenged by Ahmedabad.

A video recording or photo documentation will be made at the places Where more than 1000 trees are planted. This exercise is part of Guinness book requirements.

The joint exercise of planting maximum number of trees in a day has been organized by Gujarat’s Forest department, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, AUDA, various schools, number of organizations, NSS, NCC cadets, industrial houses, government employees, semi-government employees, various associations, NGOs, environment lovers and the citizen of Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has set up a helpline number 32984555 for anyone who wants to volunteer in this event. The helpline will run for seven days upto 7 August between 8 am to 9 pm.

For the first time in India, State Election Commission Gandhinagar is exploring E-Voting options, under the initiative (1) The voter may cast his vote in the ward identified by Election Commission from his Laptop or P.C. (2) If the voter seeks E-Voting option and he is not having Internet facility than (2) he can cast his vote from E-Polling Stations. Necessary directives have been issued to Municipal Commissioners of all the Corporations and Election Staff.

E-Voting initiative, on experimental basis, may be implemented by State Election Commission for the upcoming Municipal Corporation’s elections in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, and Rajkot.

Arrangements are already made at Civic-Centres so that the voter may give his application for E-Voting options. Municipal Commissioners are instructed to make wide publicity of E-Voting option, which is being explored for the first time in India. State Election Commission has appealed voters to seek the benefit of On-Line Voting Facility.

Addressing to a press conference at Gandhinagar, Panchayat Minister Narottambhai Patel said that State Government is determined to furnish villages with the infrastructural facilities similar to cities.

About 82 villages under taluka headquarters, 55 tribal villages with more than seven thousand of population and 118 villages with the more than ten thousand of population, totaling 225 villages are selected under this scheme. Primarily, 82 taluka headquarters will be provided underground drainage facility. Five thousand villages will be given solid waste disposal system to make them ‘Nirmal Gam’. Till now 1,670 villages are declared as Niraml Gam, he informed.

He added that the State Government is also focusing on women empowerment. Fund with Sakhi Mandals is increased to Rs.350.45-cr in March 2010 from Rs.81.69-cr in March 2009, out of which Rs.118.38-cr is of their own savings. Under Mission Mangalam Scheme, 22,090 BPL families are covered till Jun 2010 and remaining 77,910 families will be covered by Dec 2010. One member from all such families will be given income oriented training expecting to bring out about one lakh families from poverty.

He said that State Government has planned to provide quake-proof homes to about 4.31-lakh homeless BPL families falling between 0 to 16 multiples and having a plot, by Dec 2010. Till Jun 2010, 1,44,278 beneficiaries are given homes and remaining will be provided by Dec 2010. As many as 58,708 homeless BPL families falling between 0 10 20 multiples and not having plots, will be given 100-sq.mt plots.

Sohrabuddin encounter case fame N.K.Amin, Former ACP(Crime) Ahemdabad is writing a book in jail. The book is about Sohrabuddin encounter and the events that followed in Amin’s life, including his time in jail so far.

Amin has named this book as “The Ghost Behind Veil”. Amin has already penned down the row notes for his book during last three years of his jail custody. He will shortly start writing final text of the book.

Amin has habit of noting down the things that happen in his life, on daily bases. He has penned down smallest detail of whatever happened with him in jail. The size of his book will be about 300 pages. Amin wants his book to be published in two languages:Gujarati and English. He intends to have possible best amount of royalty for his book.

One of the accused in 2005 encounter case, Amin is nowadays in discussion for his application in court to become star witness. Amin was doctor before he joined police force.

Mumbai based Teesta Javed Setalvad’s NGO Citizen for Justice and Peace(CJP), yesterday faced Gujarat High Court’s anger. CJP was scold by the judges and it’s amended application was rejected.

Teesta Javed Setalvad’s NGO Citizen for Justice and Peace had filed a public interest litigation in Gujarat High Court seven years back regarding compensation to 2002 Godhra riot victims. After several years gap, the NGO filed amendment which was bigger than the original application.

The High Court bench of Chief Justice SJ Mukhopadhyay and Akil Qureshi scold Teesta Javed’s NGO ‘Citizen for Justice and Peace’ and told, “your original PIL was admitted seven years back. So where were you all these years. It seems you have no genuine feelings for the riot victims. You have presented photographs of dead bodies of riot victims. What do you want to prove by showing dead bodies photographs? You want to prove your feelings for riot victims showing such photographs? It seems you are more interested in playing political games than getting justice through your PIL.”

The High Court judges cautioned the NGO for such activity.

It should be mentioned here that Teesta Javed’s NGO had filed number of issues of its magazine, photographs of dead bodies, reports published on websites, documents accusing the state government and Chief Minister etc. The size of this proposed amendment was about three and half thousand pages.

The court rejected Teesta Javed’s NGO’s amendment application.

New over bridge in Ahmedabad’s Isanpur area was inaugurated today evening. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new bridge which is named after Shri Bhaironsinh Shekhawat, ex-Vice President of India and BJP leader who died early this year.

For last three-four years, the city of Ahmedabad has witnessed inaugurations of more than dozen flyover bridge. More than all other years before. Though over bridges are constructed under Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the names are given by none other than the Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Modi prefers to name each over bridge after either a BJP leader, or a local Gujarati well known personality.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate ‘Swarnim Pavak Van’ at Palitana on 30th July. Chief Minister’s this programme is part of the 61st forest festival of the state.

Under Swarnim Pavak Van project, the forest department of Palitana has planned to develop forests of various trees in 7.38 hectare land of Palitana south foothills on Garejia road.

Hundreds of trees will be planted in this area with peoples support. There will be a Chabutara(feeding place for birds), Desi trees, water fall, lawn, children play ground, health garden etc public facilities.

A Teerthankar forest will be developed to house trees under which, the teerthankars of Jain sect had performed ‘tap’. Shetrunjay Van, Smruti Van, Raashi Van, Nakshatra Van are also planned at this place.

19 water reservoirs of Saurashtra region and one of Kutch and South-Gujarat each have reached full level.

Recent showers have enabled significant inflow in State’s water reservoirs. At Sardar Sarovar, Narmada is showing 115.09 meter’s marks which quite below the danger level; Flood Control has issued high alert for 18 water reservoirs, which may overflow having reached 90 to 100 percent level.

State Flood Control has issued high alert for 27 reservoirs that have 90 to 100% water, alert for 9 reservoirs, each has 80 to 90% water, and common precaution for 13 reservoirs, each has 70 to 80% water

State Flood Control has further issued alert for 8 reservoirs of the State.
