New Delhi: Actor Anupam Kher was today appointed chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India, Information and Broadcasting ministry officials said.
Kher replaces Gajendra Chauhan, who had a controversial tenure as head of the Pune-based institute. His term had ended in March.
A notification regarding Kher's appointment has been issued, officials said.

Actor Anupam Kher, who had criticised the filmmakers returning their awards to protest "rising intolerance" in the country, is set to lead a tolerance debate march to the President's house to counter it.

Bollywood film unit is again visiting Kutch for a mega budget film shooting.
Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor, Imran Khan and Anupam Kher are presently camping in Kutch for shooting of Karan Johar produced film 'Gori Tere Pyar Mein.'
Some shots were taken at Sargu village on Monday. The three days long shooting will end at district headquarters Bhuj.
