Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Sonia Gandhi/Rahul Gandhi loyalist Ashok Gehlot has been assigned charge of Gujarat Congress. At present Mumbai MP Gurudas Kamat is in-charge of Congress affairs in Gujarat. Kamat is busy contesting election in Mumbai at present. Ashok Gehlot government suffered historic defeat last year in the assembly polls in Rajasthan. Gehlot has space to look after this new responsibility.
