Pipavav: ICGS Varuna, an indigenously-designed training vessel built by Reliance Naval and Engineering Limited for the Indian Coast Guard, was launched here today.
The vessel was formally launched at a function held in the presence of Coast Guard Director General Rajendra Singh at the Pipavav Shipyard.
Speaking at the launch, Singh said: "Currently the ICGS has a fleet of 138 vessels. While another 71 vessels are under various phases of construction."

Porbandar: The Indian Coast Guard today saved 2 fishing boats with 19 fishermen aboard from getting caught by Pakistani marine Security Agency near the notional International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
However another boat with 11 fishermen was caught by the Pak marines and the coast guard was trying to get them released though negotiation.

The India Coast Guard today rescued a fishing boat and five of its crew from drowning in the Arabian sea off Dwarka coast.
A defence spokesperson said, ' At 0744 hrs Indian Coast Guard Station Okha received a distress call from an Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Sri Padmani Krupa about flooding in her engine room. Her reported position was 60 nautical miles from Dwarka Light house.'

Gandhinagar: Indian Coast Guard today apprehended a Pakistani fishing boat, 16 nautical miles off Jakhau coast of Kutch district in Gujarat at around 11.55 am.
Boat named Al-Hilal operating illegally in Indian waters, was intercepted by ICG Ship Meera Ben.

Bhuj: Indian Cost Guard on Wednesday evening successfully evacuated 26 persons from oil tanker anchored off Kandla Port which was caught in fire. Oil tanker MT Genessa anchored off Deendayal Port Kandla at 18.00 hours. The tanker 183 meters in length and draft of 10 meters was carrying 30,000 tonnes of High Speed diesel.
