Surat: DRI today arrested a businessman cum importer in Surat for smuggling of over 6200 TV sets worth Rs 6 crore.
A DRI official said that Intelligence was received by DRI, Surat to the effect that a Surat based importer is involved in gross undervaluation in import of LED Television Sets and also importing it in SKD condition by wrongly classifying them as LED Panel and its spare parts to avail benefits of payment of duty at lower rate.

Ahmedabad: The DRI of Ahmedabad and Surat in a joint operation has nabbed two persons from Ankaleshwar area in Bharuch district of Gujarat in connection with recovery of Mefedron, a psychotropic drug used for making party drugs like meow-meow.
A DRI officer today said that the drug recovered from a factory godown was to be sent to Mumbai for likely smuggling to other parts of the country and also abroad.

Ahmedabad: Busting a syndicate involved in the smuggling of assorted lifestyle products of various global brands, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Ahmedabad has seized products having market value of more than Rs. 20 Crores imported at Mundra Port in Gujarat by mis-declaring them as “Bamboo Sticks for making agarbattie”.
The two smugglers, one from Gandhidham and one from Mumbai, were arrested in this case and produced in a court here today which sent them to jail.

Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Monday said it seized 8,000 kgs of shark fins from Mumbai and Gujarat meant for export to China and Hong Kong.
The seized shark fins were meant for illicit export by misdeclaring them as dried ray skins, dried marine products and fish maw, among others, a DRI statement said.
Export of shark fins of all shark species is prohibited under the law.

A team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) from Gandhidham has reportedly seized more than 20 tonnes of red sandalwood worth around Rs 5 crore in domestic and 10 crore in international market from Mundra port in Kutch district of Gujarat.

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized around 6.7 crore Tramadol tablets, a psychotropic substance used as an euphoric drug by ISIS terrorist and people in African countries, from the premises of a pharmaceutical firm in Sarigam area of Vapi in Valsad district which was involved in its illicit manufacturing.
Over tow tonnes of loose Tramadol and other substances and machinery all including worth over Rs 50 crores was also recovered from the factory.
