UK-based automotive marquee MG Motor today announced the inauguration of its first-ever manufacturing facility in India, through a minimum initial investment of Rs 2,000 crore. Vadodara: More than 1600 employees of General Motors India car manufacturing plant at Halol in Central Gujarat are now unemployed due to closure of car plant on permanent basis. The car plant which was operating at Halol since 1999 shut down due to shrinking market share and labour problems. There are more than two dozen ancillary units that employ around 5,500 labourers. Vadodara: After producing 1.2 million cars here, General Motors(GM) India is today shutting down its plant permanently at Halol in Central Gujarat.
General Motors had purchased Halol plant from Hindustan Motors in 1990s. Halol plant had first produced Opel Astra car in 1996. On the last day of this plant which is today, the company is going to manufacture 72 cars. The plant has annual capacity to manufacture 1,27,000 cars.

Vadodara: American car manufacturer General Motors will shut down its plant at Halol in Central Gujarat on 31st of March. The company has conveyed this to State government. Vadodara:Pharma major Sun Pharma has said the US health regulator's audit report on its plant at Halol in Gujarat will have a positive impact on the company in the long-term.
The company's Halol facility recently underwent an inspection by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).

Vadodara: Kaher Kazem, General Motors India President and Managing Director visited company's Halol based car manufacturing plant on Wednesday and made announcement that the plant will continue to be functional till March 2017. Earlier the company had announced that plant would be functional only upto August this year.
