Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat has announced a common academic calendar for all government universities across the State.
As per the common calendar the first part of academic calendar will have 95 days while the second part will have 95 days - thus the total academic period will be 102 days.
For the first time, the colleges will get 7-day Navratri vacation, while summer vacation will be 49-day long.

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat State Board of School Textbooks (GSBST) Class 12 Sanskrit textbook says Sita was abducted by Lord Ram.
The error appears in a paragraph describing poet Kalidas' 'Raghuvansham'. The offending line on Page 106 of the textbook's English version reads: “There is a very heart-touching description of the message conveyed by Laxman to Ram when Sita was abducted by Rama.”
The textbook has other errors too.

Surat: President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind will be at Veer Narmad Dakshin Gujarat University on May 29 to head the 40th convocation function of the university. Nearly 29,000 degrees, doctorate will be distributed to students in this function. The university holds convocation function every year on February 26. Due to non-availibility of President, the function was delayed this year.

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat today announced its decision that only Gujarati domicile students will be given admission on 10,000 MBBS seats from the academic year of 2018.
The state has more than 10,000 MBBS seats including the seats of dental, homeopathy, naturopathy and Ayurved. According to health minister Nitin Patel, Gujarati origin students who are holding Overseas Citizen of India card will be considered suitable to apply for NRI seats and government seats.

Gandhinagar: Medical Council of India(MCA) has approved 370 new seats for MBBS course in various medical colleges in Gujarat. With the availability of total medical seats in Gujarat has jumped from 3830 to 4200.
