The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized a ship-load of smuggled high speed diesel worth over Rs 26 crores from Kandla port in Gujarat.
A DRI official today said that the diesel smuggled from UAE in vessel MT Al Heera was imported by mis-declairation as Base Oil SN 50. It was seized on the basis of tip off to the Ahmedabad zonal unit of the DRI.

Bhuj: Indian Cost Guard on Wednesday evening successfully evacuated 26 persons from oil tanker anchored off Kandla Port which was caught in fire. Oil tanker MT Genessa anchored off Deendayal Port Kandla at 18.00 hours. The tanker 183 meters in length and draft of 10 meters was carrying 30,000 tonnes of High Speed diesel. Gandhidham: India's leading major port Kandla Port Trust has been formally renamed as Deendayal Port Trust. An official letter in this regard is issued by Joint Secretary, Government of India.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was one of the most important leaders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner of the present day Bharatiya Janata Party.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had during his visit to Kandla early this year proposed Kandla Port to be renamed as Deendayal Port in his speech.

Gandhidham: A meeting of Trustees of Kandla Port Trust(KPT) in a meeting on Tuesday gave approval to Rs 142 crore 14 mw wind energy generation project by Suzlon. The project will come up in Saurashtra region at Chotila and Amreli. As per an estimate KPT will be able to get power through this plant that it needs for all its operations. KPT will also be able to sell additional 30 mw power in market.
