Gandhinagar: Thousands of those supporting the idea of renaming the city of Ahmedabad as Karnavati created number one trend on twitter nationally using #ISupportKarnavati tag through Monday, November 20.
#ISupportKarnavati was number one trend with addition of more than one thousand tweets per hour. Total number of tweets had crossed 20,000 figure on Sunday itself. Tweets were raining in support of Karnavati naming of city even on Tuesday.

Ahmedabad: I was surprised to see some historian and journo questioning actuality of existence of Karnavati. This article points out some facts that are neglected/omitted by such gentlemen while claiming that Karnavati is fringe of imagination.

Sentiment prevailing in section of people in Gujarat against the name Ahmedabad is not completely unfounded. The city of Ahmedabad was named after sultan Ahmedshah, and if you go into the history, the picture of Sultan Ahmedshah is not something that majority of people in Ahmedabad would completely admire. Gandhinagar: The government of Gujarat today admitted that it has not sent any proposal to Centre for changing the name of the city of Ahmedabad as Karnavati.
