The forest department team has rescued a dehydrated young leopard from the bed of a dried up rainy river that flows through Gir forests in Junagadh district of Gujarat.
The incident has take place close on heels of the incident of rescue of another leopard who had fallen in a well in neighbouring Gir Somnath district and remained trapped there overnight earlier this week.

The body of an Asiatic lioness was found on the bed of a dried up rain-fed river in Maliya Hatina area of Junagadh district in Gujarat today.
CCF Junagadh S K Mehta said that the team of forest department with RFO has rushed to the spot and more details were awaited.
He said that the body of the lioness was found on the bed of Meghal river near Zadka village close to Gir forests. The age of the beast was not yet known.

Junagadh: North Range Forest Officer of Forest department of Gujarat, S.D.Tilala has said that Ram kathakar Shri Morari Bapu was given entry into forest with permission by forest department in connection with Wildlife week celebration in order to create awareness among people. Junagadh: A 30-day long monsoon festival at Sasan Gir kicked off on Sunday. The festival has been organized at helipad ground between Sasan and Bhalchhel. Cultural programmes will be presented every evening during the festival at this place. Amreli: The body of yet another lioness was found in a village of Amreli district in the eastern range of Gir forests in Gujarat today from where the body of another lioness was found two days ago.
Both the deaths seems to be case of poisoning.
DCF of Dhari T Karupasami today said that a body of 2 to 3 year old lioness was found from a revenue area of Lakha Padar village today. From the same village the body of a lioness of more or less the same age was found two days ago.

Junagadh: In a unique initiative to spread further awareness on lion conservation, a dayro event dedicated to lions has been organized on 9th March at Visavdar by state forest department.
Gir(West) and Gir(East) units of forest department has invited famous dayro(Gujarati folk music evening) artists Kirtidan Gadhvi, Mayabhai Ahir, Farida Meer, Rajbha Gadhvi and others to this event.
Satadhar laghu mahant Vijaybapu and Champarda Surevdham mahant Muktanandbapu will also grace the event.
