Ahmedabad: Surendranagar district based Hindustan Salts Limited, a government-owned company established for salt extraction in the region, has invited bids to develop a 100 MW solar PV project in Kharaghoda, Gujarat, India.
As reported by Mercom Capital, the project will be developed on a revenue sharing model, as all the power generated by the facility will be sold into the market.

The country's solar sector is expected to see capacity addition of 5.7 GW in the current fiscal, even though aggressive tariff bids may cast a shadow on profitability of producers, rating agency Icra said today.

Gujarat government has allotted 1407 hectare land to Gujarat Power Corporation to set up a 750 MW ultra mega solar plant in Vav taluka of Banaskantha district. A request has been sent for setting up Ultra Mega Solar Power Project. However local villagers have pointed out that about 68 hectare land is grass land and therefore re-survey should be done for adjustment of this 68 hectare land. The Government has revised the National Solar Mission target of Grid Connected Solar Power projects from 20,000 MW by 2022 to 1,00,000 MW by 2022. This was stated by Sh. Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

Nearly 5,700 MW of solar capacity is expected to be added during 2016-17, even as concerns over aggressive bidding and regulatory challenges persist, says rating agency Icra.
According to an Icra study, the capacity addition, including PV and grid connected projects, in 2015-16 is expected to touch 2,700 MW, which will increase to up to 5700 MW next fiscal, going by the project awards and tenders floated in December last year.
