Ahmedabad: A 10 MW solar power plant of ONGC has been made operational at Dahej in Gujarat.
It was inaugurated by the Chairman and Managing Director, ONGC, Mr Shashi Shanker recently. The turnkey contract for building the 10 MW solar plant was awarded to Vikram Solar Limited, India’s leading module manufacturer and solar EPC player. The country's solar sector is expected to see capacity addition of 5.7 GW in the current fiscal, even though aggressive tariff bids may cast a shadow on profitability of producers, rating agency Icra said today.

The Centre expects to achieve its ambitious target of 100 GW of solar capacity generation by 2017, much ahead of its deadline of 2022, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said today.
"We are looking at achieving the 100 GW target of installed capacity of solar energy by the end of 2017 itself," Goyal told a gathering at the Mumbai University in suburban Kalina.

The New Development Bank set up by BRICS countries aims to lend up to USD 2 billion this year starting in about two months and the multilateral lender's first loan to India could be for a green solar energy project, its president K V Kamath said.
