Palanpur: Bhoomi Pujan for Rs 259 crore 1407 hectare 600 mw ultra mega solar park was performed by ministers Chiman Saparia and Shankar Chaudhary at Radha Nesda village of Vav taluka in border district Banakantha in North Gujarat.
Saparia said Gujarat has become power surplus state thaks to efforts made by government. He said Gujarat had 6,000 mw power generation in 1995 which has increased to 25,256 mw through various sources.

Vadodara: Chief Minister Rupani today announced allocation of Rs 50 crore budget for residential solar rooftop power generation drive. He said applications are received from over 20,000 residences so far for solar rooftop for which the government had made provision of Rs 35 crore in its budget, now the additional Rs 15 crore allocation will expand the scope of the scheme to total 35-40,000 residences.

New Delhi: State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured Gujarat Alkalies and Chemical Limited order for setting up a 15 MW solar photovoltaic power plant on EPC basis at Charanka in North Gujarat.
This detail was shared today by BHEL in a statement.
This will be BHEL's first ground-mounted Solar PV project in Gujarat. The company is presently executing over 180 MW of ground-mounted and rooftop Solar PV projects across the country, it said.

Vadodara: Local MLA and minister Rajendra Trivedi today inaugurated unique container classrooms powered by solar panels at a school run by district administration in Vaodara. These unique classrooms are created by Linde Engineering company through Rs 35 lakh Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) fund. Solar panels are placed atop the container classrooms. The setup has facilities like library, computer lab and toilets. The school Chhani Kumar Shala is run by district primary education committee.

Deesa: Deesa municipality in north Gujarat has in last two months saved Rs 43,000 in electricity bills thanks to solar system erected atop the office building. The solar power system erected at municipality office generated 2700 units of power in last two months, of which 850 units were used by municipality office for its own needs while 1650 units were sold to power company for Rs 3.22 per unit. The system was erected at a cost of Rs 7 lakh.

Chandigarh: A floating solar power plant pilot of 10 kw peak (kWp) -- the peak power -- has been commissioned at Dhanas lake here amid efforts by the government to develop the Union Territory as a solar city.
It has been designed to supply power to fountains at the lake for aeration.
The USP is its dual-axis tracking technology that has been developed indigenously, which is capable of generating 30 per cent or more power than conventional solar photovoltaic ones mounted on the ground.
