Present status and future of Surat’s Tapi Riverfront project ( with pictures )

Following are the details of the Tapi river front development project of Surat. The details are taken from the proposed budget draft of Surat Municipal Commissioner for year 2013-14.
Tapi river front project:
Budget provision in 2012-13 Rs 9.16 crore
Proposed budget 2013-14 Rs 5.60 crore
The project to come up on western bank of river Tapi, between Swami Vivekananda bridge and Weir-cum-causeway. It will create a 45 ha open space for celebrations and festivities.
Two big public plazas, food plazas, festival ground, memorial park, jogging and cycling track, seasonal shops etc are planned under the project.
The total project cost is around Rs 47 crore.
The works completed include a 7.5 meter wide walk way of 750 meter length between Navdi ovara and Sardar bridge and another 7 meter wide walkway of 2375 meter length between Chopati and Hotel Gateway.
Next proposed is a walkway between Hotel Gateway and Ramnath Ghela.
