This incident of Love Jihad is in discussion in entire south Gujarat today.

Valsad city police has arrested one Imran Sheikh who had married a Hindu girl by identifying himself as Hindu. Victim girl realized this five years after marriage and filed police complaint.

Victim girl, Vinisha Garg, daughter of retired railway employee in Valsad was working as teacher in Indore(Madhya Pradesh). She came into contact with one Devendrasinh Rathore through common friend. Victim girl’s friend Jagprit Kaur alias Poonam Saluja had introduced Imran(Meghnagar, Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh) as Devendrasinh and said ‘Devendra’ was as cousin brother. Victim girl’s friend said ‘Devendra’ was MBA from Pune and working in Finance firm in Bhopal.

After brief love affair, and proposal of wedding from ‘Devendra’, victim girl married with him on 26 December 2009 in Valsad as per Hindu traditions. Vinisha and her parents were in impression that ‘Devendra’ was MBA from Pune and doing good job in Bhopal. When Vinisha’s parents wished to speak on phone with ‘Devendra’s parents, he managed to do this through fake parents!When Vinisha wished to see Devendra’s house in Vadodara, he took her to some bungalow near cricketer Irfan Pathan’s house. Vinisha actually met fake parents of ‘Devendrasinh’ that were arranged there in filmy style! Surprisingly, none from ‘Devendra’s side attended wedding function. ‘Devendra’ told victim girl and her family that due to his grand mother’s sad demise, none from his family could come to attend wedding as per the Rajput tradition. He also said that as per the tradition, he would not be able to take his newly wed wife to his home for one year. ‘Devendra’ actually didn’t take Vinisha to his house for five years.

Victim girl has alleged that ‘Devendra’ took Rs. 72 lakh cash and 1.68 kg gold from her family. When Vinisha’s father retired from job, Imran asked him to invest in good scheme with high interest and took away Rs. 16 lakh. Later when Vinisha’s father sold his property in Agra, Imran went with him and took away Rs. 50 lakh and escaped at some station. Later when Vinisha’s father arrived at Valsad, Imran called him and said there were goons behind him and therefore he carefully took away Rs. 50 lakh and left the train. Imran also took away 1.68 kg gold in the name of investment in gold scheme.

Victim girl came to know about ‘Devendra’s real identity only in February this year when her sister’s husband Ketanbhai checked ‘Devendra’s bank account and realized that he was actually Imran Muhammad Rafiq Sheikh who is married to another girl and father of two children. Ketanbhai checked and was shocked to know that money transferred to Devendra’s account were actually going to an account that belongs to Imran and Rehana. When asked about this, Imran said that Imran was his father’s friend’s relative and Rehana was someone he knew. Later the detail came to light that ‘Devendra’ himself was Imran and Rehana was his mother’s name.

On receiving complaint from victim girl’s family, Valsad Police moved teams to Bhopal, but Imran was not found there. Later, police arrested him from Godhra in Gujarat. Imran was in Godhra in connection with death of his father’s sister Memunaben. As per police complaint, Imran was issuing threats to victim girl’s family on phone.

It is learnt that Imran’s first wife is a tribal Hindu woman whose original name was Pinki, but was later converted and renamed as Parveen. Imran has two kids through this marrige.

Police Sub Inspector MN Sheikh is investigating the matter.
