Power supply disrupted in 2929 villages following heavy rains

Due to today’s rainfall, power supply has been disrupted in 2929 villages across Gujarat. Power failure situation has occurred due to water logging in 20 sub stations.
In a review meeting held in Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel asked government administration to restore power supply on war foot basis with the help of additional man power.
The Chief Minister ordered deputation of senior government officials in affected districts wit immediate effect. She asked closure of schools in affected districts for next two-three days.
She said priority should be given to tasks like power, drinking water, health, road repair, removal of dead animals and public health.
Chief Minister was briefed that 4 NDRF terams were active for rescue and help along with two teams of State Reserve Police. 2 teams of Border Security Force(BSF) and 1 team of NDRF are deployed in flood-hit Kutch district.
Trimming of trees, use of JCB by Roads and Building department for removal of trees uprooted, movement of 10 mobile dispensary units, evacuation etc were other topics discussed in this meeting.
