Right hand person of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti(PAAS) leader Hardik Patel is now facing cheating allegations.

Lathi based Murlidhar Cotton Industries owner has submitted application alleging cheating by Dinesh Bambhania alias Dinesh Patel who has been seen accompanying Hardik Patel like a shadow. Dinesh has been seen side by side with Hardik at number of occasions recently on TV. Dinesh was also on stage with Hardik during 3.5 lakh strong Patidar maha rally in Ahmedabad. Dinesh is close aide of Hardik Patel and a core committee member of the outfit launched by Hardik.

Complainant told media, “Dinesh’s office was in Rajkot. When Patidar maha rally was held, we saw him on TV and ralized that he was the cheater Dinesh Patel himself who hadn’t paid our money.”

Main complainant Punabhai Patel is from Dhasa. He is into cotton business. Another complainant is Ashok Dhameliya. According to them they were in search of Dinesh Bambhania alias Dinesh Patel. They had visited Dinesh’s house also. Dinesh was not found and his phone also was not working. Suddenly one day when they saw Patidar maha rally on TV, they found Dinesh on stage.

According to complainant, a day after rally, Punabhai and Ashokbhai contacted Dinesh, but Dinesh issued threat to them and misbehaved.

Complainants have alleged that they had provided products valued at Rs. 1.20 crore to Dinesh and one of his associates in 2012 from their mill. But they have not paid the remaining Rs 52 so far despite several requests and a written affidavit in this regard.

Damnagar Police Sub Inspector Trivedi has received written application in this regard. Both complainants have visited district superintendent of police office of Amreli also to make representation on this issue. Complainants said Dinesh had cheated number of people while dealing in cotton.

Confirming to have received such complaint SP Amreli Antrip Sood told UNI that a formal FIR has not yet been lodged. ‘We will study it before deciding the further course of action,’ he said.

Dinesh, a resident of neighboring Rajkot district, has emerged as one of the main faces of the PAAS agitation demanding other backward quota status for the politically strong Patel community in the state. The agitation had turned violent on August 25 following the brief detention of the outfit leaders. 10 people were killed and over 200 vehicles were burnt down during two day protests.

There are two applications regarding Dinesh’s alleged cheating. One is before Amreli police while other is before Virpur(Jalaram) police.

Several calls made to Dinesh for his reaction in this regard were not answered.
