It has been proven once again that Patidars by-and-large do vote for BJP. In Patel dominated areas of Ahmedabad city, BJP has won maximum seats. Congress has however made some inroads in the backdrop of recent Patidar agitation.
BJP’s panels won Gota, Chandlodia, Ghatlodia, Vastral, Indrapuri, Naranpura, Nikol, Odhav, Naroda and Thakkarbapanagar. Congress could win 2 seats in Viratnagar, all 4 in India Colony and 3 in Bapunagar.
Out of 54 Patidar candidates fielded by BJP in AMC(against 45 last time), 46 are victorious while Congress had fielded 44 Patidar candidates of which 5 could win.
In Vadodara, Patidar voters are more than 7,000 in numbers in 9 wards, but barring ward number 1(that too areas around TP-13) Congress has not been successful to get Patidar votes. In Mahesananagar area, BJP lost despite of Patidar votes in its favor.
