Actor Vivek Oberoi says he is targeting the young and upwardly mobile middle class for his theme-based resort and township that is coming up in Gujarat.

The Bollywood star is investing Rs 400 crore in developing the theme-based resort and township near Ahmedabad, which is nearing completion.

“Initially, we invested Rs 200 crore in the resort, but after the new tourism policy (of Gujarat Government), which will help in boosting the tourism sector, we decided to double our investment to Rs 400 crore,” he said, addressing the Gujarat Investors meet here today.

The 39-year-old actor-entrepreneur has invested in the project through Raghuleela Infrastructure, a firm in which he is a partner.

The ‘Royal Beach City-The Goa’ resort and township near Ganeshpura village on the Vataman-Dholka highway, 45km from Ahmedabad, will be like bringing in the magic of the coast to the inland, he said.

“We are basically targeting the young and upwardly mobile middle class people in the State who are looking at weekend destinations,” Oberoi said.

The resort will give beach-like experience with artificial beaches with waves, both indoor and outdoor pools, floating cinema and hotel with 600 keys.

“We want to create affordable yet luxurious destination through this resort. We will be promoting it through events like beach volleyball tournaments, music festivals among others,” he added.
