DG Vanzara, Dinesh MN discharged from Sohrabuddin Sheikh, Tulsi Prajapati encounter case

Mumbai: Special CBI Court here has discharged retired retired cop DG Vanzara ad IG in Rajasthan Police Dinesh MN from year 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsi Prajapati encounter case. Both have spent seven years in jail in this case. After getting discharged from Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsi Prajapati encounter cases, DG Vanzara said justice has been done by judiciary.
Earlier the court had discharged BJP president Amit Shah, Rajasthan minister Gulabchand Kataria and others in this case. The total number of accused discharged by the court now stands at 15.
Cops who were made accused by then Congress-led UPA govt arm Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) had time and again said the case was politically motivated to target the BJP ruled Gujarat government and specific person at the helm of it.
On Monday, the court rejected the discharge application of two Rajasthan police officers Himanshu Singh and Shyam Singh Charan. The two police sub-inspectors are accused in the case and were then part of the Rajasthan police. The CBI had opposed their discharge, submitting before the court that they were among the main accused and that they were accused of firing shots at Sheikh.
The CBI in its chargesheet claimed Sohrabbudin and Kausar Bi were allegedly abducted by the Gujarat Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) from Hyderabad and killed in a fake encounter near Gandhinagar in November 2005. Following a Supreme Court order, the trial was moved to a Mumbai court. Prajapati was an accomplice of Sohrabuddin and was killed in a similar operation in 2006.
