Rajkot/Ahmedabad: Congress MLA Virji Thummar’s remark on State BJP chief Jitubhai Vaghani’s mother was a new low in public discourse, and none can disagree to this fact. Thummar in his speech yesterday at Moti Malvan questioned whether Vaghani’s mother belongs to Patidar community. Thumar went on to say that if Vaghani was born from Patidar mother’s stomach, he would not utter such words about Hardik(that Hardik is ploy of Congress). Thummar had also addressed BJP national president Amit Shah as ‘taklu'(bald) for more than once in his speech.

Thummar today in a telephone talk with Gujarati news channel Zee Chovis Kalak shamelessly refused to tender apology or even regret. Thummar in telephone talk said he was agitated by Vaghani’s remark that Hardik was pitthu of Congress.

‘Sardar Patel’s vanshaj would never speak like this about Hardik,’ Thummar said when asked about his remark about Vaghani’s mother.

Thummar who lost Amreli Lok Sabha election in 2014 general elections could revive his political career thanks to vicious and violent quota agitation. Thummar’s daughter could become district panchayat president due to Congress party’s victory there. The elections were held soon after Patidar quota agitation. Thummar later won Lathi seat which is dominated by Patidars.

Thummar yesterday attended Hardik Patel’s Mahapanchayat event at Moti Malvan and crossed all limits of decency. His speech had mentions including Prime Minister’s estranged wife, bald Amit Shah and Jitu Vaghani’s mother.

After guttermouthing in such manner, neither Thummar nor State Congress is ready to apologize or tender regret. This shows that not just Thummar but entire State Congress is in favor of going as low as this when it comes to public decorum. Instead of condemning Thummar’s remarks in strongest way, Congress MLA Himmatsinh Patel on behalf of State Congress said Thummar’s views expressed were his own and not Congress party’s.

A group of BJP leaders and workers including IK Jadeja, Jagdish Panchal, Rutvij Patel among others today afternoon reached State Congress headquarters in Paldi area of city to stage protest. The Congress group including MLA Shailesh Parmar, spokesperson Manish Doshi etc on the other side stepped out of the party headquarters in counter protest. Police had to intervene before both group indulge into clash.
