When Vijay Rupani met Benjamin Netanyahu

Gandhinagar: Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today during his meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in Jerusalem said, he was pleased to be in Gujarat, and now he was pleased that Gujarat was in Israel.

Series of tweets posted by Prime Minister of Israel’s official twitter handle said, ‘met today with the Chief Minister of the Indian State of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, and welcomed him to Israel, his first visit outside India since taking up office. The Prime Minister conveyed greetings to his friend, Indian PM @narendramodi.’

‘The two discussed the continued strengthening of relations between the two countries. Gujarat Chief Minister Rupani expressed great interest in Israeli water, agriculture and cyber technologies.’

“We believe in this alliance between Israel and India, and it was tremendously enhanced by Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Israel. I was pleased to be in Gujarat, and now I’m pleased that Gujarat is in Israel.”

Today was the second day of Rupani’s 6-day Israel visit. In a video clip posted on twitter by Netanyahu Rupani is heard as saying that this was his first foreign visit as Chief Minister. Rupani also told Netanyahu that Israel was enjoying king position in expertise in the area of agriculture, security and more.

Netanyahu greeted Rupani by asking, how are the things in Gujarat. Netanyahu told Rupani that relations between India and Israel enhanced tremendously due to mutual visits by him and Modi to each other’s nation.

In a statement issued by the Gujarat government today evening, it was reported that Rupani had informed Netanyahu about Gujarat government’s in-principle decision to grant minority status to Jews living in Gujarat, notification for which would be out soon.

In his series of tweets on the meeting, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said: ‘Glad to have met PM @netanyahu in the afternoon. Discussed ways to improve the cooperation in the fields of agriculture, cyber security, water management and innovation. Honorable PM of Israel very fondly remembered his trip to India and to Gujarat in January this year.’

‘Mr @netanyahu proposed to set up joint working group to promote such a cooperation in a sustained manner so that more ideas can be taken forward in a systematic manner. Honorable PM also assured that Israel will cooperate and work closely with Gujarat in the field of water management.’

‘Honorable PM has been kind to suggest to take advantage of their cyber apprenticeship program where Gujarat & Israel can jointly sponsor bright students to join 5-10 week Apprenticeship program which can provide faster opportunities of technology transfer and bright job opportunities.’

‘I am glad to share that Honorable PM Mr @netanyahu also agreed to consider my request of piloting precision and digital Agriculture farming project somewhere in Gujarat. The project would help the farmers of the Gujarat to a great extent.’
