First scientific interrogation room for especially wily criminals comes up in Vadodara

Vadodara: The Vadodara police have beaten their peers in the state in developing a scientific interrogation room for especially wily criminals. Developed on the first floor in the office of the Special Operations Group in the Tandalja area of the city, it is completely sound-proof and has a capacity to store 1,000 hours (48 days) of audio-video data pertaining to the inquiries that police subject an accused to.

The audio and video recording can go on continuously in this scientific interrogation room even as a superior keeps an eye on the entire proceedings inside from another room which is separated from the interrogation room by a glass partition. This glass partition will allow the superior officer to keep an eye on the investigation officer and listen to the talking happening inside the interrogation room.

In case the supervising officer feels like asking a question, he can use the intercom facility to speak to the investigating officer about his suggestions. All 21 police stations in Vadodara will be allowed to use the scientific interrogation room.

The state government plans to develop this facility in every city, which has a police commissionerate. It just so happens that Vadodara police have become the first to get it off the ground. DeshGujarat.
