He will be welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will accompany him in his visit at Statue of Unity. They will also pay floral tributes to Sardar Patel. The Prime Minister’s Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) programme will also be organised in the presence of the UN Secretary-General, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and other dignitaries from the UN and the Government of India.

What is LiFE mission?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi first presented the idea of the Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) campaign to the world at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021. This year, a day after World Environment Day i.e., June 6, 2022, the PM launched it through a video conference and urged to adopt a lifestyle that is in tune with our planet and does not harm it. He mentioned that ‘LiFE Mission’ learns from the past, operates in the present, and focuses on the future.

The UN Secretary-General will interact with locals to understand how the Government of Gujarat made this project successful in consultation with the locals. To add, he will also understand about the positive changes brought about in the lives of people.

In the last phase of his tour, Mr Guterres will also visit the Sun Temple at Modhera to witness the recently inaugurated 3-D projection.

He will then proceed to Ahmedabad airport after finishing the necessary rounds of meetings and work at Modhera.
