Kutiyana: Two persons allegedly beat a youth with a snooker stick and washing paddle after abducting him and his friend over a post on Instagram that featured the son of Kutiyana MLA, Kandhal Jadeja.
According to the police complaint, Shyam Odedara (age 20, residing on Milpara Street No. 7 in Porbandar) and his friend Karan Odedara (living near Rameshwar Mandir, Marketing Yard) were riding their bike towards Kamlabag in the evening when a car overtook and stopped them. Two individuals named Vivek Odedara (living in the Narsang Tekri area) and Devang Odedara got out of the car and began using abusive language. When Shyam refused to tolerate the abuse, Vivek asked his accomplice to take the two friends along with them in the car.
Vivek drove away with Karan, while Devang sat on the back of Shyam’s bike. They abducted the two friends and took them to CC Colony. Vivek pulled Shyam off his bike by his collar and demanded to know why he had posted the story of Kandhal Jadeja’s son Raj on Instagram. Shyam explained that Raj was his friend, and he posted the story for that reason. Devang and Vivek proceeded to use abusive language and slap him. Vivek then beat Shyam with a snooker stick until it broke. He then used a washing paddle to beat him along with his accomplice Devang. In the end, the accused threatened to kill Shyam if he appeared with Raj again or posted any more stories about him.
Shyam and his friend went to the Kamlabag police station and filed a complaint following the incident. DeshGujarat
