1.79 cr Ayushman card holders in Gujarat to get increased health insurance cover of Rs. 10 lakh from today

Gandhinagar: Starting today, the 1.79 crore PMJAY (Ayushman Card) cardholders in Gujarat will now receive a health insurance cover of Rs. 10 lakh, which was Rs. 5 lakh earlier.

Officials from Bajaj Insurance Company paid a courtesy visit to Health Minister Shri Rishikesh Patel at his office in Gandhinagar today. Following this visit, Minister Rishikesh Patel formally launched the Ayushman Card with an increased insurance assistance of Rs. 10 lakh.

Minister Rishikesh Patel stated that complex surgeries such as heart, kidney, liver, uterus, and other procedures, including cochlear implants, will now be easily accessible under this card with health insurance assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs.

During the meeting with Bajaj Company officials and health department officials, discussions were held regarding upcoming bank integration, strengthening real-time data tracking, enhancing anti-fraud agency operations, developing new SOPs for hospital management, and preparing FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).

It is worth mentioning that, currently, a total of 2,848 hospitals provide treatment under the Ayushman Card. These hospitals include 2,027 government hospitals, 803 private hospitals, and 18 central government-run hospitals in the state. A total of 2,471 different health-related procedures and treatments can be availed of under the Ayushman card in these empaneled hospitals.
