FM Sitharaman inaugurates 12 GST Service Centers in Gujarat from Vapi

Vapi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated 12 GST Service Centers in Gujarat from Vapi. These centers are located in Gandhidham, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Godhra, Vapi, Mahesana, Palanpur, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Junagadh.

During the event, Sitharaman addressed various issues, such as combating bogus billing across India, promoting digital payments, implementing “One Nation, One Tax,” advocating for ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar,’ and commended the 20% increase in tax collection from Gujarat, reaching a total tax collection of Rs. 1,00,000 crore.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized the need for both increased tax collection and a broader enrollment of establishments and businesses. She stressed the importance of a transparent tax system in which everyone participates. She also mentioned that avoiding taxes is not a beneficial strategy, as it hinders potential sales.

Sitharaman encouraged consumers to demand bills when making purchases, stating that it contributes to the nation’s development. She stated that withholding bills from customers, despite receiving payment, is not in the national interest.

Furthermore, the finance minister highlighted that GST has reduced tax rates for essential goods and services, ensuring that consumers no longer face double taxation or overlaps. This has resulted in reduced taxes compared to the pre-GST era.
