Rs 3.20 lakh rail robbery during signal failure on track in Kheda

Kheda: A bunch of thieves stole valuables amounting to Rs 3.20 lakh from passengers when a train came to a stop due to signal failure here on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the early hours of November 14, as reported by Saroj Kumari, the superintendent of police for Western Railway. Several teams have been assembled by the railway police to apprehend the unidentified culprits. Additionally, an investigation is underway to determine whether the signal failure was the result of sabotage, Kumari mentioned.

According to the First Information Report filed at the Anand railway police station, the Gandhidham-Indore Express, en route to Indore, halted around 1:30 am on November 14 near Anghadi village.

“The thieves attacked the 5 travellers seated near the windows. Without entering the coach, they grabbed whatever they could and disappeared into the darkness,” stated the SP.

The victims collectively lost cash, mobile phones, and jewelry valued at Rs 3.20 lakh. Varsha Kothare, a resident of Gandhidham and the complainant, recounted that one robber snatched her gold chain worth Rs 50,000 through the window, while the other four passengers lost their bags and purses. A case under the Indian Penal Code section 379(A)(3), addressing ‘snatching,’ has been registered by the police. DeshGujarat
