Rajkot hotels and restaurants observe strike protesting RMC’s sealing drive over fire NOC and BU

Rajkot: The Rajkot Hospitality Association organized a bandh today in the city against strict actions by civic staffers against violations of rules.  About 1000 hotels, restaurants, banquet halls, and party plots reained shut in the city responding to the bandh call. The closure was a result of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation’s (RMC) sealing operation.

Mehul Patel, head of the Rajkot Hospitality Association, stated that approximately 1000 establishments, including hotels, restaurants, banquet halls, and party plots, are closed today. This action comes in response to the sealing of properties lacking fire NOC and BU permission, despite no fire incidents reported in such establishments in Gujarat.

Patel claimed that RMC officials are demanding Rs 5 lakh per sealed property, under the directives of an official named Amishaben. The association insists on stopping the sealing immediately and urges RMC to resolve issues through proper channels instead of sealing.

The association has demanded an immediate halt to RMC’s sealing operations and urges intervention from higher authorities to address the issue. They argue that all establishments have fire safety measures and should not be sealed solely for lack of Fire NOC compliance. DeshGujarat
