Two players from Gujarat to be part of India’s table tennis team at Paris Olympics 2024

Surat: Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar, two table tennis players from Gujarat, will represent India at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Table Tennis Federation of India announced their selection for the men’s team for the Paris Olympic Games 2024. The event begins on July 26, marking India’s debut in the team event for table tennis.

Harmeet Desai from Surat and Manav Thakkar from Rajkot have high hopes for winning a medal at the Olympics. Harmeet and Manav complement each other well in doubles, having won several titles together.

Harmeet has won numerous medals for India, including a gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2019. Harmeet started playing table tennis at age six. He is currently training in Germany. He expressed his excitement about representing India at the Olympics, a dream he has pursued for 25 years.

Harmeet recently became the national champion for the second time and won a doubles title in Nigeria with Manav.

Manav Thakkar, originally hailing from Rajkot, is the son of Surat-based ophthalmologist Vikas Thakkar and Ayurvedic doctor Kalpana Thakkar. He has won medals at the state and national levels. He also told the media that he has played 537 tournaments and won 356 games. DeshGujarat
