AMC installs CCTV cameras on 70 bridges in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today informed it has completed installation of CCTV cameras on 70 out of the city’s 81 bridges where it was feasible. Currently, 40 cameras are operational in the control room. Work on BSNL’s internet connectivity for live feed of the remaining cameras is expected to be completed soon.
AMC note stated that Smart City Ahmedabad Development Limited (SCADL) has installed 112 traffic cameras at junctions, yet only 96 are currently operational due to weather and logistical challenges. Plans are underway to install cameras at 100 new traffic junctions based on police department requirements.
Moreover, the standing committee of AMC has allocated Rs. 15 crores in the 2024-25 budget to install CCTV cameras in newly merged areas of Ahmedabad, further enhancing the surveillance efforts. DeshGujarat
