ACB Gujarat nabs City Survey Superitendent for taking bribe

Godhra: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has nabbed a City Survey Superintendent in a bribe case today.

According to the ACB, the accused, Babubhai Malivad, a City Survey Superintendent of Godhra town and a Class-2 officer of the Gujarat government, demanded a Rs. 15,000 bribe from an applicant who wanted approval for an entry (nondh) for the sale of an apartment. The applicant paid Rs. 7,000 as a bribe in the first installment. With this amount, the officer only completed a Kaachi Nondh (preliminary entry). The accused officer later demanded the remaining Rs. 8,000 and refused to finalize the Paaki Nondh (final entry of the sale in government documents) until the full bribe amount was paid.

As the applicant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. A trap was arranged, and the accused was apprehended after receiving Rs. 8,000 in bribe money in the presence of a witness at the City Survey Superintendent’s office in Godhra.
