August 22, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Odhav Police have booked folk singer Vijay Suvada along with 12 identified individuals and several other unidentified persons on the accusation of threatening to kill real estate broker Dinesh Desai and attacking his father’s office in the Odhav area.
According to the complaint filed by Dinesh Desai at the Odhav Police Station, he became acquainted with popular folk singer Vijay, alias Vijay Suvada Rabari, seven years ago. Vijay, along with his brother Yuvraj and Raju Rabari, had met Dinesh at a social event. In 2020, Vijay Suvada and Dinesh Desai had a falling out for unspecified reasons, leading to the end of their friendship.
On July 1, while Dinesh was at home, he received a call from Vijay Suvada in which he threatened to kill him. At that time, Dinesh did not file a police complaint. A few days later, on August 18, when Dinesh was home again, Vijay Suvada called him at night and issued another threat. After Dinesh hung up, Vijay began calling from different numbers, but Dinesh did not answer.
Later, around 11 PM, Chetan called Dinesh, saying that two people were asking for his whereabouts and threatening to kill him. Being Dinesh’s cousin and business partner, Chetan advised him not to leave the house.
Around 11:30, Chetan called again to inform Dinesh that Jai Desai had told him that 15 to 20 four-wheelers and around 10 motorcycles were coming toward their house from the Odhav Ring Road. After hearing this, Dinesh went to his father’s office around midnight. There, he met Jai, who informed him that more than 50 people were carrying weapons, including pipes, rods, and hockey sticks, while shouting, “Where is Dinesh? He is to be killed today.” Among the crowd were Vijay, Yuvraj Suvada, Raju Rabari, Vicky, Suresh Desai, Mahesh Desai, Jayesh Desai, Dilip Thakor, Hiren Dilwala, Navghan Singh, Bhathibha, and Ranchu Seth.
After this, Dinesh checked the CCTV footage from his father’s office and identified people, including Vijay Suvada and Yuvraj Suvada. Fearing an attack, he, along with his partner Chetan and friend Jay, lodged a complaint at the Odhav Police Station. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
The police have booked the accused under Sections 189 (2), 189 (4), 296 (b), and 352 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 135 (1) of the Gujarat Police Act. DeshGujarat
